I would say the1995 Honda Civic or possibly the 1995 Nissan Maxima or maybe the 2005 Honda Civic two door hatchback. These cars give a good ride and are easy to drive. But, really, I'd probably go with the CRX.

For a decent autocross car you want a small powerful rear or all wheel drive car. So S2000's, EVo's, and Supra's. However small FWD imports like Civic can be competitive.

Usually hatchbacks from Germany, Japan, etc. are passable. Another requirement for these cars should be whether or not they are all wheel drive.

The SCCA lists ten classes. Anything from a stock beater to a built race car is acceptable. Modded Civics, Minis, Miatas, and BMWs are popular choices.

The answer to this question is subjective to the various people who will answer. Typically light weight cars will fare better with handling the tight circuit. weather or not 4 wheel drive or rear wheel drive is better is also subjective.

Really there is no single car that is the best. Pretty much any light small car can be made into a decent track car. Miatas and civics usually make good cheap track cars.
