What are the average salaries for surgeons?

My son in law wants to be a surgeon.

There are many different types of surgeons in the healthcare industry. The overall median salary for a general surgeon is around $170-$320k. The male to female doctor ration is 76%/24%. Trauma Surgeons can earn $130-270k, Physician $140-$310k, Neurology & Heart Surgeon $430-$470k.
