Low water toilets, also known as low-flow toilets reduce your water bill by reducing your overall water consumption. Modern low-flow toilet designs have exceptional flush action.

Years ago, toilets used approximately five gallons per flush. A standard was created to reduce that to three and a half gallons per flush. In 1991, the standard became 1.6 gallons per flush. For a family of 4, averaging 12 flushes per day, a savings of about 3000 gallons a year is realized.

In most cases, these are water saving measures which equal money savings. Older toilets not considered low flow use up to 3 gallons per flush. New low flow toilets use 1.6 gallons max. This lack of water does not equal a lack of flushing power, since bowls now use jet flushes and smoother trap designs.
