What are the advantages of having forty year old roofing shingles?

Advantages of a 40 year shingles include, never having to replace them again, good for selling a house, and it makes the house more attractive from the street. We moved in to our house 24 years ago. Everything has been done over including the roof. I have never had to worry about a leak or having to replace again.

40 year shingles are no better than the standard 30 year shingles. The only difference is the higher price. 30 year shingles last just as long as 40 yr .

They are made to last forty years. If you get alot of hail damage to your roof your home insurance company will replace the shingles. Check to see if its cover.

This is a testiment to time and wear. Shingles take abuse from the elements and having some are that old can mean never replacing them for the for seeable future!

There's no advantages of having shingles that's almost a half a century old. They have been up there long enough, so it would be a good investment to get new ones.
