Fiberglass doors are lighter in weight than a metal or wood garage door. They are much easer to open and close. They also will not rust, warp, crack or rot. Fiberglass doors are made in many different styles. The light weight of the panels also put less stress on a garage door opener.

Fiberglass garage door's advantages: inexpensive, lightweight, better resistance to coastal salt-air corrosion, potential-translucency, can be molded to look like wood. However, fiberglass garage doors can discolor/yellow with age, break/crack more easily, and do not have the insulating capabilities of polyurethane insulation sandwiched in-between steel sheets.

A fiberglass garage door can be puchased in a variety of styles and colors that will complement the design of your home. It is energy efficient; requires little or no maintenance to maintain its appearance; is usually quieter than a wooden or metal door; and is more impact and dent resistant.

The fiberglass garage door is not so popular with homeowners. With all its advantages like being lightweight and inexpensive, most people would usually go for units made out of other materials like wood and steel.
