The warning signs and complications that are possible after child birth vary depending on the type of labor and delivery you had. In general fever, abnormal swelling or excessive pain should be discussed with your doctor.

You should be aware of if you are running a fever, or excessive bleeding or cramping. If any of these occur you should contact your doctor.

After giving birth, keep an eye on your bleeding. If you are bleeding too heavily, contact your doctor. For your baby, make sure he or she is eating well, has a normal skin tone, and appears comfortable. Contact your pediatrician with any questions.

Please take your infant to the doctor if his/her skin turns yellow. It could be a sign of jaundice. You should also look out for an infant not eating, pooing, or peeing. Make sure everyone who holds your infant washes their hands since their immune system is not able to fight diseases well.
