What are some treats to feed horses which are on diets?

I have two horses on diets in preparation for an upcoming show event. I'd still like to reward them. What treats can be used?

There are brown-rice-based horse cookies you can buy, which have fewer calories than flour-based treats and no added sugar. Horses also like fresh fruits and veggies, so try ones with minimal sugar like carrots, bits of apple, lettuce, bits of melon. They respond mostly to the novelty, so try a tiny portion of something new and different.

Carrots and Apples are good for horses since they don't have all the extra additives as traditional bagged horse treats do. Treats are good but use them sparingly.

Try pieces of fruits and veggies such as: carrot, apple, watermelon, or orange. Just remember to feed it in moderation. They don't need to have a lot in order for it to be a reward. Just a couple pieces is enough.
