If you are able to swallow and keep things down ginger, ginger ale, saltine crackers and oral medications may be helpful. If you cannot keep anything down you may need to take a suppository form of prescribed medication such as phenergan, zofran or compazine.

Contaminated food can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. This so called food poisoning will usually resolve itself spontaneously within 24 hours without medical treatment. It is important not to become dehydrated during that time; make an effort to drink lots of fluids, beginning with water and noncaffeinated sodas for the first 12 hours and gradually adding juices, bland solid foods.

As odd as this may sound, there is a very effective acupressure point on your leg, a few inches below the knee and to the outside or the leg. Raise your foot and feel where the muscle tightens and you have found the spot. Spend 3 minutes deeply pressing and rubbing this spot, use both legs, nausea should be relieved.

Try ginger ale and some saltines. You want to stick with bland foods. You probably cannot hold food down right now anyway.

Ginger is hailed for a nausea treatment. Some find relief sucking peppermint candies. You could let nature take its course because after you get sick the nausea goes for awhile.
