First of all you should make sure that you can legally put a windmill in your area. Wind turbines requires a huge area so make sure that you have a lot of space.Make sure that you have enough wind flow available. Have sufficient wiring to connect it to your home.

There are several things to consider before buying a wind turbine. First, make sure there is enough wind available at your site. Second, make sure you contact your city to find out if you can have one in your area. Contact your local environment department to see if you can receive any grants to help out with the finances.

Have a tower to place it on, high enough to catch the wind. Have sufficient wiring to connect it to your home and alternate power when it doesn't run.

Verify that your city allows you to put one up. Confirm that you can get enough wind to run it and that neighbors do not interfere with the wind flow.

First and foremost, you should check neighborhood restrictions on external structures like wind turbines. As these are uncommon, you should look towards similar structures, like amateur radio antenna and similar restrictions. You should also take city and county zoning restrictions into consideration as well. Once these legal hurdles have been cleaned, the next stop is your local utility's policies.

When you are considering purchasing a wind turbine, the first and most important thing to realize is that you are going to need a lot of space. Space is the name of the game when it comes to wind turbines. From a distance, they may seem relatively small, but up close, they are very large.
