Be prepared to provide documentation when you ask for a raise. Company awards for quality or performance, any reports showing your output is higher than normal, etc. Also be aware of what other epopel in the company have received. If you want more than average, be prepared to give reason why your performance is higher than average.

You need to be as professional and business-like as possible. Have a list of specific accomplishments which demonstrate that you deserve a raise. If possible, it is also useful to have information about how much people doing your sort of job make at other companies.

To be eligible for getting a raise, you must have met the criteria that your employer is setting. In other words you must impress your employer with what you have or what you can do so that he recognizes the risks of not giving you what you deserve.

"I need the money" does not count. List the reasons that you have earned it, including increased sales attributable to you, extra shifts you have worked without compensation, increased skills or responsibility that are equivalent to a higher pay grade and your increased productivity.
