Generally young children will be kept with their mothers if they are still breastfeeding, except in cases of extreme abuse or negligence. Mainly children are removed if the home is unsafe, unstable, or otherwise not a good environment, if the children are neglected or if it is deemed that the state or other parent can provide a better home.

The mother might lose custody of her children if the father could prove the mother was unfit to care for the children. This could be because the mother is mentally ill, an alcoholic or drug addict, or abusive to the children.

Even if there is testimony to prove that the mother was there for every illness, practice, game, activity and took excellent care of her children (and sane) she can lose custody.  add a comment

Abuse, Neglect are two reasons that a mother will lose custody. There are several other reasons, if you are taking care of the child properly there should be no problems.

Children are taken away when a parent is found to be unfit. This would include neglect or abuse, these are things the would be harmful to their health and welfare.

It is really tough for a mother to lose custody. However, custody cases can depend upon the state and most certainly the judge.

Abuse, not providing the basic needs for your children (shelter, food, and clothing), also if parent is on drugs, drinks to excess or endangers their children in any way.

The husband is a con man and convinces the court you are unfit even though testimony from others and psychological testing, proved otherwise. Pray & be prepared for the fight of your life!
