As well as pictures of dragons, koi and chrysanthemums, Japanese tattoos are often made up of kanji, or symbols for words and these usually have a spritual dimension. Popular symbols include those for body, mind and spirit for example, or peace and happiness. Some brave people have a whole slogan tattooed in Japanese script!

I have seen people use the symbols for grace, home, bird, love, strength, life and others. Make sure that you confirm it with a couple of sources before you go and get this tattoo because many people think are getting something that means something special to them but are falsely informed.

愛 is the character for love. 希望 means hope. The characters for peace are 平和. You can find more using a Japanese to English translator online.

The most popular as tatoo are Japanese letters. In my opinion you can make a tatoo with one word, which is made from Japanese letters.
