Modern religions are frequently based on transcendent principle/deities, which makes them hard to compare based on quantifiable measures. Instead, religions are often compared based on the practices of their worshippers.

There are essentially two main avenues through which one can compare religions: theology and morality. Theology compares religions' views of God's nature and God's actions. Morality represents how a religion is represented in the daily life of its adherents. Both theology and morality use scripture, worship, and doctrine as resources.
