Personnally I think Craftsman makes the best shop vacs you can buy. The best place to find one is at Sears.

Theres lots of shop vacs out there. Some great brands are craftsman, philips and my favorite is shop vac. This brand is very affordable and it lasts a long time.

The most frequent referred and most economical vac is the Ridgid WD1450. It is wet/dry and 14 gallon. It's about $115 at Home Depot. For a heavy duty vac needed at a workshop, the Bosch AirSweep 3931A is recommended. It has twin filters which clean themselves. It runs for around $525. Amazon usually has them at a cheaper price.

Good shop vacs can vacuum a lot and not break down often. They are used in shops that do a lot of messy work.
