Be 100% sure you have removed all electrical wires first. Then remove the belt. Next you must be sure you have removed all of the retaining bolts. You may need to tap it with a small hammer to loosen it. Then wiggle it back and forth till its loose. Then remove gentlyso as not to hit any other parts.

ALWAYS disconnect the battery first and disconnect the negative battery cable before the positive. I like to short the positive and negative cables together after disconnecting from the battery for 5 minutes to make sure all the charge is out of the system. Do not over tighten alternator bolts.

When replacing this alternator you must first disconnect the battery. Take the battery out of the vehicle and charge it prior to restarting. The alternator doesn't charge the battery, it just maintains it. Also don't overtighten the positive terminal on the alternator.

Many of the component parts are the same in other older Nissan model. Many places refurbish alternators especially on older model at a reasonable price. Also try scrap/salvage yards
