Try a basic two-piece puppet pattern. These puppets are fairly flat, looking almost like an oven mitt with two thumbs. Sew, paint, or glue on facial features and clothing.

The easiest way to do it is to use some old,un-paired socks. You won't even have to use sharp needles here so its very child-friendly. Just get a few loose buttons from your sewing kit,glue or sew them.Gather some cotton balls, newspaper,shredded paper, or foam to use as stuffing.Easy right?

Kids love to learn to sew things for the holidays Christmas and easter seem to be the favorites stockings and bunnies are always a big hit with kids.

You could try making a ragdoll. They're relatively simple to make since all you really need are the typical sewing tools.
