Make sure that the room your child does her homework in doesn't have any thing that will distract her. Be adamant that your child gets her homework done. Don't let her do other fun activities until she actually gets her homework done like she's supposed to. Make sure you help her if she needs it.

Sit down with her and do your homework -- your taxes, your grocery list, and show her that seatwork is an adult task that you do with grace.

If she refuses to do her home work then she does not deserve to have any privileges. No homework, no computer time, no dvd time, nothing. Determine what her currency is and until she will do her work remove it from her. If it is a cell phone, take it away. etc.

You can try some reverse psychology. This means telling her if she doesn't do her homework then her teacher may be upset with her. Also you can try a reward system. Tell her if she does her homework all week she will receive a reward on Friday.

If the child is "normal" & not special needs, make doing homework her responsibility. You can stop nagging & let her face the consequences at school. Ironically, this teaches good decision making for later on! When teens are 60 miles away, going 60 miles an hour, they must choose well.
