Generally you want foods that are lower in fat and that contain certain antioxidants. For example, blueberries used in shakes, smoothies or on salads provide anthcyanins as well as a low fat snack. A glass or two of red wine likewise provides a diet "splurge" while aiding in health. Finally I would recommend yogurt with live active cultures ("probiotics").

Goods that provide antioxidants, B vitamins and iron are good for pancreatitis. These include whole grains, leafy greens, blueberries, cherries, squash and bell pepper. Tofu and cold water fish are good sources of protein. Foods should be cooked in olive oil. Avoid refined foods and drink plenty of water.

Those who suffer from pancreatitis need to avoid saturated fat. Therefore, a diet high in carbohydrates is recommended. Beans of all types, including kidney beans and black beans, are advised, along with sweet potatoes, carrots and other vegetables. Fruits are good, especially blueberries, along with pineapple and raspberries. Breads, pastas and cereals are recommended, and also yogurt.
