A good practice to let kids learn while on their free time or while out of the gym is by having them practice the fundamentals. Basically dribbling, passing against a wall, footwork would be good. Often providing them with such options may help improve their game individually in which practice should enable them to merge with others.

One good individual basketball workout is known as the Mikan drill, named after George Mikan. Players need to stand underneath the basket and alternate between shooting right-handed and left-handed layups, all while never taking one or two steps away from where they are standing.

Tell them do do pushups and pullups till their arms fall off. Turn them into little machines, so you can dominate the paint with your whole team. Imagine having a team with 5 Dwight Howards, except with ball handling skills. You can also tell them to make 1,000 shots from 15 ft a day, make not take.`

Show them some Kobe Bryant footage, make them learn the fundamentals, it's no secret why Kobe is the greatest player of all time, it's due partly to his fundamentals.
