Neoclassicism was a European movement of the 18th/ early 19th centuries, inspired by Ancient Greece. Alexander Pope, Jean Racine, Daniel Defoe and Jonathan Swift all wrote works classed as neoclassical.

Neoclassical refers to looking back to Greek and Roman forms. Some writers whose works fall under that literary category are Moliere, Johnothan Swift, Samuel Johnson, and Alexander Pope.
