Cloth suitcases are much lighter than hard-cased luggage. Definitely get something on wheels so that you can pull it behind you rather than having to carry it.

The airline has weight restrictions so most luggage today is designed to be lightweight when it's empty. Most travelers, however, stuff it full, which adds to the bulk and weight. Soft-side nylon bags add the least weight. Plan well and pack light to travel light, especially if you have to haul your own luggage.

The best kind of luggage for you would be a rolling suitcase. They come in various sizes depending on your needs. You won't need to carry it at all, you simply roll it.
