What are some examples of contrasting colors?

I can only think of black and white.

Red and green, blue and orange, yellow and purple. Take any primary colour, mix the two remaining primaries and you have it's colour opposite, which will contrast it as strongly as black contrasts white.

Some examples of contrasting colors, besides black and white, can come in two groups. First, the kind of colors that contrast because of meanings evoked by them; and the second, colors that are mathematically inverses of each other. The first type can be colors like: blue and red, the second type can be Red (#FF0000) and Turquoise (#00FFFF)
