This is not a matter of breed selection, it is a matter of other factors such as dogs' curiosities and environment. Nueter your pet and walk it regularly.

Dogs can run away to find a mate, explore or hunt. If you neuter your dog, that could help with one problem!

Dogs that are well socialized and trained will not run away regardless of their breed. There are some breeds that can become so focused on "hunting" like the sight hounds that they can get lost in the process. Dogs that don't have strong hunting instincts would be best for you.

Any breed of dog has the ability to run away. A lot of it depends on the specific dog. The best thing to do is have a secure fence to ensure the dog can't get out of your yard. Hounds are extremely likely to run away because they follow their noses anywhere.

Dogs are very clever and trustable creatures which will never cheat us if we care and love them exactly. They will help us for the favours we did. But human beings never do that. They will cheat us. The dog could ran away if you have harmed him. So never beat or scold them unnecessarily.

English Bulldogs are not able to run away. I have a pure bred that is 70 pounds, and he is not physically capable of running very far...their respiratory systems will not allow it.
