A bone is technically a bone from another animal. Dogs should never get cooked bones because they can splinter. Some bones, like pork bones, should not be given either for the same reason. Beef bones like marrow bones are the best, and dogs can chew on them for hours.

To make some liver treats puree about a pound of liver with 14 cloves of garlic. Ass in a cup of whole wheat flour, 3/4 cup of cornmeal, and 2 eggs. Mix well, drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake about 20 minutes at 320 degrees.

Making your own dog bones is great, take boiled chicken and mix with rice, also use range meats and organic veggies mixed together, another is hamburger and rice.

You can find hundreds of dog bone recipes online and in dog cookbooks. There are many different flavors you can try, as well as other special considerations. Some treats you make can help with bad breath, some are low calorie and fat so your dog won't gain weight, and some are made with special ingredients.
