Most societal prejudices target a group of people for who or what they are such as low income families, people who are gay, severely obese people, handicapped, people who are HIV positive.

Common prejudices are racial ones (prejudiced about someone who is black, white, latino, etc), age (against the elderly, for example), language (against those who do not speak English), economic status (against those who are poor), gender (against women or men), religion (against Christians, Muslims, etc), and sexual orientation (against those who are gay ,bisexual, etc).
