The causes of Premature Ventricular Contractions could be many things. Some causes are ischemia, hypercapnea, hypoxia, cardiomyopathy, myocardial contusion, mitral valve prolapse, myocarditis, smoking, alcohol, drugs, caffeine, anti-depressant drugs, increased levels of calcium in the blood, heart attacks and thyroid problems. Also, stress, lack of sleep, increased levels of adrenaline and certain medications can trigger PVC's.

PVC frequently occurs with no cause, but there are some possible causes. They can be smoking, stress, drinking alcohol or caffeine, using drugs like cocaine and certain medicines such as digoxin. Also an increased level of adrenaline can be a possible cause.

PVC can be cause by many states, diseases and sometimes drugs, must of the times it's hard to find a reason. Some other possible can be: Cardiac, Acute myocardial infarction/ischemia , Myocarditis, Cardiomyopathy, dilated or hypertrophic, Hypomagnesemia, hypokalemia, hypercalcemia, Mitral valve prolapse, Hypoxia, Medications, Illicit substances (cocaine, alcohol, tobacco)

PVC or premature ventricular contractions are extra heartbeats that throw off the normal beating rhythm of the heart. PVC can have no known cause. However, some known causes include: alcohol, drug use, some prescribed medicines, chemical imbalance in the body, and heart muscle damage caused by heart disease or other condition.
