The main differences between street pads and race pads are the materials. Racing pads tend to have more expensive man-made material. These help the pads to be aggressive while at the same time stay fade free. These pads commonly used a lot of carbon.

The brake pads for racing cars are mostly carbon ceramic, which has a thick carbon fibre layer inside to make it hard and strong and ceramics on the outside.
