First and foremost they are not Spanish, and are offended to be called so. They are Mediterranean and enjoy the climate and culture of the Iberian Peninsula. About 97% are Catholic, so that has an impact on the mindset. They are friendly and warm and welcome people who try to learn something about their language or culture.

The Portuguese people are a mix of old world and new. In the cities, western style clothing is the norm, but in the rural areas traditional clothing can be found. The people in general are easy going and friendly. The atmosphere is mediterrinean with hours at cafes talking over coffee. They are a welcoming people!
