The average eye exam measurement is 20/20, seeing at 20 feet what others see at 20 feet. A better than normal value is 20/10, seeing at 10 feet what others see at 20 feet. A 20/40 value means you see at 20 what others see at 40 feet.

An Ophthalmologist does an eye examination for finding out various eye diseases and visual acuity. Snellen chart is used to measure visual acuity testing. external examination is done for cornea, sclera, conjunctiva, eyelids and tissues. pupil function can be measured and oscular motility can also be examined and measured. slit lamp machine is used for anterior eye structure.
