For example. The Economic Slump right now is History repeating itself. This happened in the Great Depression Era. History is important because it's what made this Country and World the way is today. It helps us to understand why certain things are the way that they are. It explains a lot of theories that are still in practice today.

Vietnam was a war the U. S. entered under false pretenses and against the will of the public, like the Iraq war. Napoleon and Hitler both failed miserably in invading Russia.

Many point to the two World Wars as an example of history repeating itself. The recent economic crisis is for many, a repeat of what happened in the 1920s leading up to the Great Depression. Another one is Napoleon attacking Russia and getting stuck in a Russian winter unprepared leading to defeat, a mistake Hitler made again in WWII.

The perfect example is the fact that The Soviet Union warred with Afghanistan for nearly 20 years and now the U. S. has been at war with Iraq for nearly 8.
