What are elementary schools like in Turkey?

Are they anything like the school here in America?

There has been a lot of reform lately in Turkish elementary schools. They are attempting to match up with European Union educational standards.

In terms of content, Turkish elementary is similar. Kids learn reading, writing, math, etc. Foreign language usually is offered in the 4th year. If a student fails, they must repeat.
