When a Yankee is getting ready to leave, he says, "I must be going. Thank you," and he leaves. A Southerner says, "Well, I must be going. [pause] Do you have any Coca-Cola? " And stays another 45 minutes. This could go on all evening.

Besides the geographic difference, there is sometimes a pronounced accent. In the big northern cities, we move at a faster pace. We even tend to talk faster. When I lived in Florida for a few years, it took me a little while to slow my pace. The weather has a lot to do with the differences.

There is a long standing divide, but it's all a matter of cultures and stereotypes; every area and person is different.
