There are three main types of skin tests: scratch/puncture/prick test (a few drops of allergen are pricked onto the skin surface), intradermal test (the allergen is injected under the skin) and patch test (a large patch with different allergens are applied on the skin).

A Patch Test diagnoses allergic reactions. A small patch of the suspected allergen is placed on the skin, and if the skin reacts, it's diagnosed as a allergic reaction.
