Question by  Adam (25)

What are considerations for a Christian who wants to do tai chi?

I'm just not sure about the spiritual element to it--can I do it without that part?

Tai Chi is part exercise and part meditation. Some Christians take exception to the meditative aspects of tai chi. Talk to your pastor/leader if the meditation concerns you.

The spiritual aspect of Tai Chi is merely learning to be calm and centered, not a belief system. Though spelled the same in English, it has nothing to do with the "magical energy" Chi.

There are none. Tai Chi is not a religion. It is a passive martial art. It is consistent with Christianity and all other religions.

The spiritual element is not in conflict with your believes. It is about balancing your body and mind to make you more connected with universe or God if you prefer.
