CDMA mobile phones use an interesting form of technology in that they utilize what is called a spread spectrum technique. Electromagnetic energy is manipulated and spread out. This results in a much wider bandwidtch. In turn, one bandwidth can accomodate multiple service users. A bandwidth of frequencies can be shared making this type of service a viable competitor with others.
