You throw up yellow bile when there is no food matter left in your stomach to throw up. The yellow bile is acid from your throat or stomach. I used to throw up yellow bile when I would have severe menstrual cramps and anytime I threw up yellow bile, there was never any other vomit following it.

When you have not eaten food in a long time, meaning there is not any food digesting in your stomach- bile is the only thing left in the gall bladder. Sometimes referred to as "dry heaving", this happens after taking certain medications, nausea occurring naturally from equilibrium imbalances, or other reasons.

Yellow bile happens when you have been throwing up and any food that you may have in your stomach, once all the food is out of your stomach, your body and stomach are still throwing up, the yellow bile is stomach acid that because that is all that is left in your stomac.

The cause of throwing up itself can stem from many different things, and you should consult with your doctor immediately. It its probably yellow because is actually stomach acid, which tends to have a bright green or yellow color to it. You should try to drink a lot of fluids, water and gatorade to help reduce the acid.
