Air Boats use large fans to propel themselves across the water. They don't ever leave the water or ground surfaces but the fans shoot over terrain at high speeds. They are gas powered engines and eat a lot of gas! The benefit of an air boat is the maneuverability of them.

Airboats do not ever leave the surface of the water. Instead, they are fitted with very large fans on the back of the boat which propel it through the water at high speeds.

Airboats are boats with a large gas powered(usually) fan on the back. This fan provides propulsion and fins directly behind it provide the steerage. the main benefit of an air boat is that it can maneuver through shallow water or swamps.
