What advice can you give me for a credit card bill when a law firm is handling the collection?

It sounds pretty fancy but it is really just a glorified collection agency. Just make arrangements with them and as long as it is reasonable they will accept it.

Collectors working for an attorney have no more power or authority than any other collection agency. They hope the mention of "attorney" will make you believe otherwise, but they are subject to the same rules as everyone else (the FDCPA). The individuals calling you are not attorneys; they may hint that they are, but they are not.

You really only have 2 choices at this point. The first choice is to pay the bill in full. If you can't do that, you can work with the law firm to come up with a payment plan you can afford. I know they will do this because a friend of mine just recently did the same thing.

They will send any forms you request with full detailing of the debt, interest, and fees attached. They will not settle unless you can show it will drive you into bankruptcy.
