It sounds like you need to take your TV to a repair shop, since the power surge may have done lasting damage. The Geek Squad at BestBuy is pretty good.

You should unplug your TV right now, and leave it unplugged. Check any warranties you have to see if power surges are covered. You can try contacting your electric provider, but they will probably deny financial responsibility. Follow the procedures you find in your warranty or manual for repair services.

You should call an electrician. From the sound of it, the power surge may have shorted out either the socket that the tv is plugged into or the tv itself.

You can call a television repair man to come out and trouble shoot your television. Try turning the television off and on several times. Also move it around to a different outlet.

If it was totally turned off, you should check all your power cords, fuses etc. If it was on standby but not working anymore, a technician should check it.

If the surge affected your tv it was most likely the power supply that changes 110vac to direct current, which can be replaced.

Sounds like the surge fried the set's internal circuitry. You should always have your television plugged into a surge protector. You will probably need to replace the set.
