Question by  linlou (23)

Straight Talk & Metro PCS use the same Samsung Finesse phone, can the phone be unlocked & interchangeable?

I don't want to buy a phone for $200+ on eBay & find that the same model used by another carrier won't work on the carrier I want to use. Thank you so much for your help! Linda

No, only straight talk phones work on their network. It is CDMA (Verizon) and doesn't use sim cards.

You are right. There is NO sim card in this phone. Without a sim card it will on work on the network it was set up to use. Thank you so much! Linda  add a comment

If the phone is the exact model then you should be able to switch sim cards. However the phone may be restricted as to what can be done on it.

yes the phone can be fully flashed so you can you use it with other phone companys but it can not be used with phone companys that use sim cards like t-mobile or at&t any phone with a sim card only phones with no sim. also you have to find some one to fully flash it,

No. Im sorry, ive tried this before with t-mobile and att&t. All providers i ahve asked have told me that there is no way of doing that. You could search for the phone on craigslist and possibly find it for cheaper. If you cant, then sorry. You might just have to buy on ebay.

thats is because t mobile and at&t are not cdma phones they are gsm and require sim cards verizon and straight talk are cdma phones which can be flashed to work on other cdma networks  add a comment

I want a Finesse too because the best prices are from ex-MetroPCS users... then use the StraightTalk network. Some people say impossible. it is possible. I have a friend who bought MetroPCS phone pre-unlocked on Ebay. It DOES work on Straighttalk. Where/How to Unlock or ReFlash is my question?

The only thing stopping this CDMA phone from switching networks is software. No phone company is going to help you because they want to sell you a new phone and make $400... its only common sense. Get it unlocked and/or its Firmware flashed and your good.  add a comment

I remember the days before TV. When we got our 1st one, we just turned the knob & it went on. We turned the knob again & it went off. Those days are gone! I guess I'll just buy the phone that works with the carrier. Thanks so much, All!
