Most dogs can still be walked if they have cervical disc disease. However, some dogs may lose the use of their limbs due to the disease and may be unable to walk. I recommend consulting your vet on the exact amount and type of exercise to give your dog with this disease.

Cervical disc disease in dogs is generally painful, and unless otherwise directed by your veterinarian, your dog should rest and his activity should be limited until his pain subsides.

Cervical Disc Disease is more common in small dogs. Generally the inside of the disc is like a gel, when it calcifies it is known as disc disease. It can cause pain, numbness and paralysis. If your dog is able he can be walked, but listen to his body and use a harness not a neck collar.

It is important for your dog to get light exercise but because the cervical vertebrae are in the neck, it is not recommended to walk your dog using a collar and leash. Consult with your veterinarian to be safe.
