Saving your music to your itunes library does not really make sense because if it is already on your computer, then there is not need to save it to your itunes library. However, suppose that you are getting a new computer, then you should save it to your itunes device.

You should save it to your Itunes library. It's safe and got good back up. Plus, if something happens to your ipod (itunes device) you'll still have your music on your computer.

I would suggest saving all music to an itunes library, and then copying favorites to a device for play. The library will always be there, whereas a device maybe lost, stolen or damaged. As your musical tastes change, the device can be edited with the music already in the library.

I think you should save your music on both so if your itunes device breaks you can have all the music backed up on the itunes library.

I would save in both places. By saving your music to your device, you are giving yourself access to your music on-the-go; able to be listened to at any time, anywhere. Saving music to your library backs up the music in case of any malfunction with your device.
