Depending if you are looking for something that is low maintenance then I would recommend the Cleveland Pear due to less watering and maintenance then the Riverbirch tree.

You should plant a Riverbirch tree. If you plan the Cleveland pear you will have to plant two to get any fruit from it.

It really doesn't make a difference which tree you plant... both are good, fairly hardy, ornamentals. If you live in a high wind area go with the Riverbirch... the Cleveland Pear has a weaker root system.

Riverbirch trees tend to attract the LEAST number of pests. Riverbirch also act as an easy 'anchor' tree for any landscape.

You should plant a Cleveland Pear tree as it is tolerant of many soil types, is a beautiful while in bloom, and provides food for wildlife. Also, the Cleveland Pear uses less water than the Riverbirch tree, making watering less of an issue. The Cleveland Pear is clearly more grower friendly.

Riverbirch is an extremely attractive, hardy, fastgrowing ornamental. Cleveland Pear is hardy, low care, and flowering with a naturally symmetrical shape- I would chose the Pear.
