Insurance on your animals is not a horrible idea, depending on how much you would pay for their survival in a major time of need.

Sometimes you can get insurance where if you're in your car it covers your pets. There is also a Pet health insurance. It can be extremely helpful if your dog ever got really sick in the future. It's not really worth it when your dog is healthy but you never know what the future holds.
