Should I be okay to get a dog if my lease does not say that you can not have pets?

I would like to get a pet, when I moved in my landlord said no pets but my lease does not say that.

If your landlord says no pets, then check to find out if they told it to any other tenants. If they have, then it is the rule. If not, then you might be able to have pets, but I would be careful not to jeopardize you home for the sake of a pet.

You should refrain from getting a pet because more than likely your lease states "subject to change at any time" somewhere on it.

Legally you would not be in voliation of your lease, but you definitely would be on the bad side of your landlord.

Even though your lease does not say you can't have one check with the landlord to make sure he is okay with it.
