Should a child need a nutritionist?

I think my daughter-in-law has gone overboard.

For a child with responsible parents, a nutritionist is probably not a necessary aspect of his or her life, however it is not a bad thing to have an educated opinion to fall back on. Childhood obesity is a growing problem, and even parents have things to learn.

Well you do realize that is basically what the WIC program is, they are nutritionist to instruct mothers on proper nutrition for their children. If as a child you are taught to eat right you will continue as an adult.

If a child is extremely overweight or very undernorished they should see a nutritionist. After being examined by a doctor to rule out any specific problems, a nutritionist is often recommended by doctors. I would only resort to a nutritionist if a doctor referred my child to one.
