Put in a little thought and decide what type of reinforcement is most likely to work, then say "I don't think you work hard enough. I'm going to give you a chance earn $10. 00 (or avoid losing a privaledge). Work with him, side by side.

1. Cut off support, if he is an adult. If a child, get rid of all perks and stick to basics. 2. If in school, require passing grades. If over age 18, require a part time job as well. Charge rent.

Give him tasks that someone his age can do, like taking out the garbage or putting away things after they have been used. Set consequences for him if he does not comply. Give him examples of people who have worked hard and what good has come out of it.

Get him into something. If he likes to paint or draw give him an art class. If he likes sports get him into some kind of program. Talk to him about his interests.
