Question by  LeslieJo (19)

My Puggle may have a concussion. What should I do?

He was born Nov. 3rd, 2010. He hit his head pretty hard on a trailer hitch last week and still isn't back to normal.

Get the puggle to a vet ASAP! Head injuries in animals is like head injuries in humans it is nothing to delay on. Given the amount of time it is probably not a concussion, which is even more of a cause for alarm.

Your dog needs to receive medical attention right away. A head injury can be very damaging to a pet and cannot be treated at home. Only a vetrinarian can provide the medication and treatment your pet really needs!

Take your dog to the veterinarian immediately. When our pets are sick, hurt or acting strangely, we take them to the doctor, just as we would a child. No one here can assess your dog's injuries over the Internet. Call the vet ASAP.

He hit his head last week, and obviously it isn't that bad because he's not dead, and he seems to be getting better but he still isn't the same..  add a comment

I hope that last week means just a few days ago. My questions are these: is he eating? is he doing any of his favorite things? does he focus on you? If you answer yes to at least one of these, I am not worried. Keep him cool and rested.

Most likely your pet has a mild concussion. The animal should be taken to a vet right away. The animal may worsen at any moment.
