My Oscar's sick and has a big white spot. What's wrong?

Your Oscar probably has ichthyophthirius, also called ick or white spot. This can be cured with over the counter medicine. Make sure you read the instructions very careful on any fish medications and use exactly as directed. Ick can successfully be treated without too much difficulty and should recover quickly.

Water test based on ammonia and nitrates should be done. Make 30% water changes daily. If you find spots in pink prick white you should the tank temperature to 30c. Do not put any med.

Your Oscar may have a disease called White Spot. White spot is a parasite that can take over your tank and be fatal to your fish. You need to gradually increase the temperature of the tank to about 82 degrees. Boil filters, decor, or other pieces.
