My hermit crab has lost his large claw. What should I do?

Your crab is stressed. Check for mites and make sure you have the proper humidity (70-80%) and temperature (72-78F). Give it chlorine free water, distilled is best. Add a shallow dish of saltwater for bathing, it helps with calcium intake. Make sure the substrate is mold free and not too damp. Don't bathe your crab more than once a week.

Nothing, unlike humans, they grow back. Keep feeding him smaller sizes of food and things that he/she can catch to eat. If needed, hand the food to him or her.

Because of the lack of control, vital parts of their bodies deteriorate. Over time the hermit loses all power of movement and vital parts needed to escape. These parts simply fall off, leaving the crab out of danger, but useless for anything except exist.
